Abstract

This study aims to analyze the condition of the aquatic ecosystems in Situ Rawa Besar and Situ Rawa Kalong, which receive anthropogenic pressure from domestic greywater discharge. The analysis was conducted based on water physicochemical parameters, primary productivity, fish diversity, and community activities in the surrounding area. In-situ measurements were taken for dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, temperature, water transparency, and total dissolved solids (TDS), while chemical oxygen Demand (COD) and anionic surfactant concentrations were tested according to Indonesian National Standards (SNI). Primary productivity was assessed using the light–dark bottle method, whereas fish diversity was determined through sampling with fish traps, nets, and fishing lines followed by taxonomic identification. Data on community activities and the number of households were collected through field surveys. The results indicate that both lakes are in a mesotrophic state, characterized by pH values of 7.70–9.40, DO of 2.85–8.76 mg/L, temperatures of 29–31°C, TDS of 75–99 ppm, water transparency of 20–30 cm, high COD levels (58.56–61.17 mg/L), and low anionic surfactant concentrations (<0.026 mg/L). Fish diversity indices were low (H' = 1.14–1.17), with a dominance of introduced species, particularly Oreochromis niloticus. Community activities around the lakes—including markets, factories, and commercial areas—serve as sources of greywater and contribute to ecological pressure affecting water quality and biodiversity. These findings highlight the need for wastewater management and control of anthropogenic activities based on ecocity principles to maintain the ecological balance of the lake ecosystems.
